Must possess the skills to perform techniques and practices of a treatment nurse.
Must have at least one year clinical experience in a hospital or long term care facility.
Must have knowledge of and interest in the care of the geriatric resident.

Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information.
Must be able to work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility.
Essential functions are carried out in a variety of positions such as standing and sitting, stooping, bending, lifting, carrying as well as other physical demands may be required.
Ability to effectively communicate with physicians and other employees.
Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with personnel.
Able to respond to change productively and to handle additional tasks /projects as assigned.
Job Duties:
Performs treatment in accordance with physician orders.
Confers with the Director of Nursing or Nurse Consultant and/or other licensed nursing personnel regarding dermatologic disorders of residents in the facility.
Consults with the Care Planning Team concerning assessment evaluations and assist in planning and developing the skin care treatment for the resident.
Examines the resident and his/her records and charts, and discriminate between normal and abnormal finding in order to recognize when to refer the resident to a physician for evaluation, supervision or direction.
Performs administrative duty such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, charting, care planning, and documents a weekly progress notes of wounds.
Identify, manage, and treat specific skin disorders and primary and secondary lesions such as skin abrasions, foot problems such as corns and callous, decubitus ulcers, bacterial, parasitic and viral skin infections, scaling popular diseases, benign tumors, etc.
Ensure the residents that are identified as moderate to high risk for the development of press ulcers are appropriately managed according to the facility's protocols Ensure that residents with decubitus ulcers receive appropriate prophylaxis and treatment, such as daily inspections, and turning activity.
Provide information to resident and family members of prevention techniques and other ways to maintain or improve the general health and psychosocial status of the resident.
Participate as requested by the Medical Director or Director of Nursing Services in the planning and conducting of in-serving training classes concerning dermatologic nursing skills and procedures used within the facility.
Participates and attends in-service training programs in the facility designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession.
Assist in monitoring the inventory of medications, medical supplies and equipment to ensure adequate supplies or products or available.
Be familiar with appropriate use of personal protective equipment offered by the facility, including but not limited to, masks, gowns and gloves.
Be familiar and follow Universal Precautions with all treatment Monitors weekly body audits and reports abnormal findings to DON.
